Shade is something that too often gets overlooked for elephants. The Asiatic elephant in particular is a forest animal that I really don't think appreciates being slowly roasted in direct sunlight.
Even ZSL recognised that in the old North Bank Elephant Paddock with that big concrete sunshade, but it wasn't replicated in the Casson Pavilion or either of the outdoor paddocks at Whipsnade.
