Lovely shot!
I think the deer are often over looked in that exhibit, mainly because of the rhino's but also the herd of blackbuck draw attention away from them. It's a shame because they are a lovely looking species, very photogenic.
Stunning picture,of one of my favourite animals in the zoo,he has been the breeding stag for a number of years, and is now starting to get on a bit now,but is still a superb looking stag.

Generally, I agree with you; Indian rhinos are such impressive beasts that, sadly, most visitors normally pay little attention to the deer that share their enclosure.
However, on Sunday afternoon this male brow-antlered deer put on quite a show; he kept charging at the Indian rhinos and chasing them away; he definitely appeared to be the dominant animal as the rhinos ran away whenever he got close!
Incidentally, I have fond memories of the Siamese form of brow-antlered deer that I saw a number of times at Vincennes (Paris) in the 1980s and 1990s; I doubt I'll ever see these again.

He certainly likes to think he is the dominant animal, but from what I have been told its more a case of the Rhino's just getting out of the way for an easy life!!
