Two-toed sloth feeding

The keeper used pieces of carrot to tempt this sloth to climb on to a frame which had a scale attached, but it would not co-operate. He then placed these vegetable sticks into the feeder - I wish I could identify the type of vegetable. Jaguar House, Chester, 18th August 2012

I was fortunate enough to see the pair feeding on 11/09/12. They where eating carrot and lettuce when I saw them. Sloths are particularly fond of beans runner beans, (ironic isn't it!) green beans and french beans. In your photo it looks like it may be a piece of celery or white aspargus.

Thank you. I still can't quite work out which white veg could be cut into these strips which are square in cross section.

Maybe it coudl be white turnip, daikon or cabbage hearts, I think they could all be cut in cubes I suppose it could have been a fruit too of some kind, honey dew melon cuts.

Yes, I guess that covers all the bases.
