I visited on Bank Holiday Sunday and I can't remember the last time the zoo was so busy. There was a long queue of vehicles on the A41 early in the morning and that was just to enter the car park.

It must have been really uncomfortable inside the building owing to the amount of visitors.

Needless to say my usual companions and I thought better of it..

A the time the photo was taken the queue was stationary.

Is this a new build or a redress of the old aquarium? Sorry if this is common knowledge I've lived on the Isle Of Man for the last 10 years I don't keep up to date.

I was looking at the Chester map and website to try and figure out what was in the aquarium and didn't have much luck other than seeing that this zoo has clown fish. What exhibits are in this aquarium that has all these people lining up to see them?

Never been very good at remembering what is in there :p but offhand some of the more notable species are:

Lake Zacapu Salamander (Ambystoma andersoni)
Omani blind cave fish (Garra barreimiae)
Snowflake moray (Echidna nebulosa)

I will make it a mission next time its not very busy and list what they have, will also try and get some photos of the more unusual species in the aquarium.

What to Chester Zoo today and I think that the Aquarium has really improved. The lick of paint has transformed it inside and out. However, even better are the tanks which all look fantastic. I never really liked the Aquarium I thought it was a relic but it was a highlight in a very good day. I will post some pictures within the next hour.

Amphibians in the aquarium are Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) and Anderson's Salamander (Ambystoma andersoni). Reptiles are Annam Leaf Turtle (Mauremys annamensis) and McCord's Snake-necked Turtle (Chelonia mccordi)

Always a little surprised that a Giant in the Zoo World like Chester has such a little Aquarium though I have not been in there for many years.
