Greater Bamboo Lemur (Prolemur simus) at Chester Zoo - 1962

This photograph is from the front cover of an old wildlife magazine I found in my loft today. The inside cover has the following explanatory text:

"The reed lemur, or broadnosed gentle lemur (Hapalemur simus), pictured on the front cover was given to Chester Zoo by Armand Denis. As far as is known, Chester is the only zoo in the world to have one of these rare animals."

The magazine itself - edited by aforementioned Armand Denis - includes a full article about Chester Zoo, which I shall also upload.

The magazine is about to celebrate 50 years in various formats . I bought most but have not managed to keep many , certainly none of the early ones .
