I had no idea that Chester has Malayan Tapirs again. Where are they? I remember as a child in the 70s the Malayan Tapirs which were in the Pachyderm House, fairly basic pens on the left had side as you entered. These pens were originally built for Rhinos and were of the same design as the old Rhino House. These pens were halved in size when the Pachyderm house indoor ditches were replaced with railway track fences in the early 1990s. The outside tapir pen was a grassy field with a concrete pool.
