1. They were together on Saturday and I think that's not unusual, but I don't know how frequently they are mixed - they have access to the off-show indoor area, so if you just see one you can't tell where the other is. Someone else may know.
2. The pool in the rhino area (just beyond the right edge of the photo) was constructed to be deep: Patna could virtually submerge in it. It was also heated. It does look a little smaller now, so it may have silted up or it may just be a consequence of a few dry weeks (shown by the dust in the photo). I can't remember seeing any of the other rhinos using it, but I'm sure they do occasionally. There are two pools in the grassy area which is currently off-limits to the rhinos, deer and blackbuck.
Its a pity how most of Chester's rhinos nowadays can only been seen when they are outside, with the exception of the Tsavo building. Whereas in the old days the Rhinos in the original building were on show both inside and out.
