As Gentle Lemur has said Chester do have a bull.Which last I heard was still being held at the back of the Oryx enclosure, unless they have managed to get him in the crate and move him over,to the new enclosure he will still be there. From what I have heard and seen he is very much a bit of a beast,I spotted him around August 2012 trying to mate with one of the females it would seem he was successful!

gestation for Banteng is 285 days or roughly 9.5 months. how long have they been at Chester?

Ah right so she must have concieved on site - the reason I ask is that there were a couple of staff from Folly Farm stood next to me whilst I was photographing the calf and they were chatting saying that they couldn't believe that they had sent them to Chester when she was pregnant - so they obviously believe that she was already pregnant when they were shipped to Chester - but from the dates above it is entirely fesible that she concieved at Chester.

Well if they were pregnant when shipped it would have been a matter of days, but they weren't so it was concieved at Chester!
