But things have changed since this was taken.. somehow the group(s) dwindled to just a single female that gave birth to a female fawn (they are in Gentle Lemur's photo below this one) after the last male died. I believe they have now acquired another pair so currently have 1.3(?) and are set up for breeding again.
At one point the zoo held 6.4, as Pertinax says they now have 1.3
At the beginning of the year the zoo held a breeding female and her daughter, 1.1 have been imported this year and can be seen from the bridge by the bat forest building.
Which was the first Zoo to have these Deer in the UK? I'm trying to remember where I first saw them(without success)- I think it was somewhere not in the UK, such as Rotterdam maybe. In the UK I've seen them at Chester, Colchester, Newquay and West Midlands- not sure if anywhere else has them currently- Knowsley?
