By the looks of it the elephant habitat / exhibit at Zoo de Madrid has been much improved. Further renovations are planned.
The Madrid Zoo breeding group at was specifically moved here from the countryside location for that purpose (and for wider public appeal / perceptions of elephants breeding in zoos). Sadly, their in-house bull died unexpectedly. It is also planned to have a new breeding bull on site.
She could have gone back to Flamingo Land - the Elephant House is still empty!! I'm astonished she has gone abroad after over 42 years in the UK, but then I suppose I just possibly apply yesterday's thinking to zoo matters.
I don't think I use the site very efficiently as usually I just look at my regular places, plus Paignton sometimes, on the UK Gallery, then greet any new members before looking at the UK Forums threads to see if anything takes my fancy (only one or two things recently). I did remember the existence of "General Zoo Discussion" a couple of weeks ago though. I presume the thing to do is to click on "New Posts" and "New Photos", but I have never looked at either . It was only because I was posting the old photos that I came on to the Chester Gallery, otherwise I'd have been none the wiser about Jangoli unless her move merits a mention in the next zoo magazine or a zoos magazine/newsletter of course.
This has been discussed elsewhere in the past, but I'm sure many members have a set routine when they look on Zoochat. I know I do. It takes the form of a regular check in this order;
I also look at the individual European Zoo Forums and Galleries less frequently, and American ones just occassionally. Other forums usually only get a look if someone posts something that interests me on the main page. The new forum posts and photos displayed on the main page usually catch my eye though.
My main order of viewing hardly ever varies from the above though....
