Opening May 2015. Must say, I can't wait for the Bali Starling Bird Template...!
Is there still not an intention to house another species of Gibbon? It would be great to see RoRA filled with a bit more stock! :D

This surprises me a little, as i'm sure i read that the tapirs would be moving to islands as well.

They were mentioned in the first few press releases, but they will be now added at a later date,so that the zoo can keep adding new exhibits to keep the interest in Islands!

AKA the budget did not fit the program...all too common an occurance!

From memory the exhibits/enclosures not to make the final cut are: tapirs, Komodo dragon show house (including other reptiles and small mammals), hornbill aviary and a second tiger enclosure. However, it appears the monsoon forest will contain far more exhibits (reptiles, fish, amphibians) than originally planned. Im no expert but I reckon the exclusion of the above was approx 10% cut in the total budget so significant in terms of balancing the books.

As zoogiraffe says there are plans to add these back in over the next few years as funds become available.

I believe the 'tiger habitat' consists of multiple exhibits, the general consensus seems to be that there is going to be a second pair.

I wouldn't want to put money on that, with how fast things that we thought were happening, have changed as more detail has come out!I would be very surprised if they have any more than just a pair of Tigers now!

Would this decision be up to the zoo or would the stud book have a say in whether they got another pair? My understanding is that the second pair were always going to be non breeding according to the original plans.

I am sure the zoo were keen to have more than just 1 pair....also better for the visitors as more chance of seeing the rather elusive tigers.

P.s are the 2 juvenile tigers still in with mum and dad ? Have only seen 2 sleeping tigers last 2 visits but not heard that they have been moved on?

Both still there, growing in independence but at 14 months (ish) they probably have a bit longer before they move on.
