Parrot House memories, 25th October 2004

Pleased you like them. Somewhat depressingly I was fast approaching 43 when I took this - and now it's over ten years ago!!

It was an awesome building. I was gutted when it closed and a lot of the birds left the collection or went off show as they had some impressive species if I recall. It was demolished to make way for RoTRA. I would have been 15 when this picture was taken.

They do not have enough parrots on show. I miss this house. I was 47 when this photo
was taken.

Agreed. It's only the macaws outside the tropical house, the amazon parrots in the parrot breeding centre and the amazon parrot in islands in danger isn't it?

There are no parrots in Islands in Danger, the amazons in the parrot breeding centre are temporarily offshow.

Am I right in thinking they used to have a st lucia amazon in islands in danger? In the 'shipwreck' aviary the hornbills (I think) are in now?

The Visyan Tarictic Hornbills are in there now as you say - their chicks are now fledged so presently 4 in the shipwreck aviary
