I presume that the black bulb on top of the stand (above this notice) is the low-frequency microphone.

Yes, there is also a microphone outside in the paddock too - quite cutting edge electronics apparently - looking forward to seeing some of the first "washed" vocalisations too - I'd say that there is a very interesting pHd available to someone here particularly with a birth in the offing

Thi Hiway is due around September and yes Aung Bo is the father :D
This was all presented at the members talk that the ellie team did a month or so back.

Feel free to be excited - Bo has also mated with Sithami and Sundara but as yet it's too early to tell if they are also in calf!

Wow!!! Fingers crossed for female calves.......don't want to tempt fate but looks like the 2 youngsters are doing well.....hope we've turned a corner now with this family group and looks like a really strong herd for the future!!

The keepers are doing amazing work with Bala & Hari target training them in a PC build area so they can do rectal exams and trunk swabs with them - this means that if the Herpes virus does manifest then they can catch it earlier and treat it quickly hopefully.
I was talking to a researcher a year or so ago from Glasgow Uni who was doing her pHd in EHV and they were close to having an experimental vaccine - that would be very good news for captive ellies.
