This is the final planted area after the crocodiles and tortoises. The plant in the pot on the left is a young Titan arum, there is a model of the flower in the planting on the right. Islands, Chester, 19th August 2015

This area looks nice and it will be fairly jungle-like once the potted Titum arum is planted. I like the choice of a wooden fence instead of anything harsh and metal.
I was impressed by the planting of the Monsoon Forest, this is just a corner, which may turn out to be the easiest place to observe the ground living birds - although it did strike me that part of it could be used as a separate aviary or an open display for reptiles or even small mammals at a later date, if desired.
I doubt whether the Titan arum will be planted with the trees and shrubs, there are several planters like this pot along the pathway, all wrapped in hessian sacking. I suspect that there a number of other specimens in the zoo's nursery glasshouses, which can be switched if one of them starts to flower (I know Paignton gardeners do this with their Titan arums).

The Titan Arum goes completely dormant after flowering so I agree that it is probably to be a temporary display.
But once the trees grow up this should be a very different scene
If the titan arum smells as bad as the Dragon Arums I planted in our garden It will spoil the show alright.
Ours once opened on the first day of our open garden weekend and we had to explain to the visitors what was causing the smell and assure them we didn't have an open municipal graveyard hidden away over the hedge. Though the smell and flies only lasts for a day, a second one had opened on day two so we had it all over again.
The smell does turn the stomach close too.
