Yellow-Backed Chattering Lory

Lorius garrulus flavopalliatus. Viewing is highly restricted (one has to push through bushes) and they're located in a really small and quite ugly aviary.

Nice photo!
It's good to see lories on display at Chester again and their calls are enlivening Islands; it has been too silent so far, but perhaps the tigers and gibbons will help. I agree that their aviary is not up to the standard set by the rest of Islands.
I was also impressed by the boy I heard telling his parents that there is a lory in 'Alice in Wonderland', but I resisted the temptation to tell him why*

* it's a joke because Alice's elder sister's name was Lorina

Nice photo!
Ironic (although probably for only you and I) that this was shot at arms length through a bamboo thicket with an - admittedly decent - point-and-shoot. The exhibit does nothing to aid viewing.

Agreed, the zoo isn't anything like noisy or smelly enough. I miss the sound of the birds, which once filled the zoo.
