Hi, do you know if there is any other reason for the male to be separated apart from the obvious lack of contact with the females post breeding? It just seems a very odd place for him to be
 
I believe he can be quite aggressive and so he was removed from the herd last year to allow the mares to give birth and rear their foals in peace. The paddock he is now in became vacant when the banteng were moved to Islands.

Thanks Alan, I did think there would a plausible reason for him to move from his harem and the paddock is ideal! Presumably he'll stay there until the foals are considerably older?

I would imagine that they will stay with the mares until they are weaned and independent, eventually they may be moved to new homes.
