Otter enclosure and pool

Although I liked the enclosure, I thought the pool harked back to the otter pools of the 70's. The square concrete edges, with the awful yellow paint being worn away, and the fake bricks.

the question is - what is this supposed to be?

i can only assume that it is supposed to represent a man made pond in some indian/nepali temple ruins.

and since thats the case - the stone is the wrong colour, the bricks are the wrong size and shape and there are no architectural elements that resemble that culture.

looks more like an underwater european castle.

I liked the exhibit for the size and enrichment it offers the otters but I thought the themeing was way OTT. I could've counted no less then 10 pots and urns inside the exhibit and out, the colours were a bit strange and as you can see in this picture the pool is very old school. When I visited the water was really cloudy and you couldn't even see the back.
