Very prettily painted beams... and a great metal wall. Lovely.

I see how this enclosure works now,I know its abit of an extreme but it does look like a pit it could do with a major refurbishment allready!
I was looking forward to this enclosue it is very dissapointing oh well enough has been said in other threads.
Regards

The actually viewing area gives a really good view and usable in all weathers - I love the whole wall being glass as opposed to RORA where i find the windows are always crowded and you can guarantee they move out of view when its your turn

Cant understand the use of bark chipping and the boulders it just makes it awkward for pushchairs and wheelchairs but does give people something to stand on when its crowded or sit on when its quiet.

I know it is a pit and I am not a fan of looking down on animals thats another minus point for RORA for me but for Rajang it does mean he can potter about and still get all the contact he needs indoors.

A more active orang utan will hopefully give colchester's outside area a more interesting viewpoint. :D

The whole point is that Orangutans live in the trees therefore you would hardly see them on the ground. Therefore the viewing is right well in RORA, where there are actually ample climbing opportunities compared to this glorified barn.

I do realise that !!!

I have never seen any orangutans other than on the ground when I have visited RORA and have never had a decent view of them, that is all I was saying.

Oddly enough, i don't think i've ever seen them on the ground (indoors anyway;)).

I understand the point about the view, but if the Orang doesn't want to be seen, then it can get out of the line of vision easily enough.

CZJimmy I was talking about the outside part, thats where there is never a good view.

I have seen orangs clinging to the wire in the other bits
