Colchester Zoo 2003 - Gelada Baboon exhibit

I visited three UK zoos with some British zoo friends following my USA visit: Chester, Twycross and Colchester. Regrettably it was my first time with a digital camera; both cards were full of photos from the USA and I was only able to take few photos in the UK. I still need to do a proper UK zoo tour.

I think this was a Baboon exhibit but honestly cannot remember.

Iti is for Gelada baboons. You probably noticed many enclosures at Colchester have fakerock walls/backdrops- but this one enclosure where it would be most suitable, doesn't have any rockwork at all. I really think its an ugly/ bad enclosure.

And it was brand new when this photo was taken.

Also the fencing to the left has changed. It is now a wooden wall with glass in, and the whole area has been rethemed since the completion of 'Suricata Sands', the new meerkat enclosure.

Oh yes, so it has. The viewing is much better now (best part of the enclosure... ) Could you only view them from the 'bridge' end before?

No, there was always viewing at the other points then.
