View of Pileated Gibbon enclosure

What is the legal driving age for gibbons in the UK?

For Siamangs its 21, for all other species, 18.

This is pretty typical design for Colchester- note the 'fake rock' banks to the 'road' that look like moulded plasticene. Can't see the point of any of this- a flat surface would have been just as effective. Attention to swinging/brachiation facilities for the Gibbons is much more important- I don't understand why zoos don't use very thick bamboo poles for Gibbons to brachiate on, instead of solid thick wooden poles as here. Bamboo is more natural looking, springy and more likely the correct width for the Gibbons' hands to grip. But Colchester do specialise in 'ugliness', though most enclosures are perfectly adequate for the inmates.

To be fair to colchester any child seeing this for the first time would be amazed at the "car stuck in the jungle with monkeys around" so at least it will draw them in.
I'm sure Zoo chatters view zoos from a completely different stand point than the average visitor

I haven't seen this exhibit, not having been to the zoo for a couple of years now, since my membership lapsed, so I need to get back and have a look around.
