I recall from an old 1970's guide book I once had that Colchester had a habit of putting photos of animals and indeed scenery in that they didn't even keep/have and made no secret of it it must be said. stating something along the lines not all animals in the photos are on view in the zoo. Gorillas spring to mind.
Of course it was all before the present owners took over in around 1983

During that time they had newly got a pair of mandrills, de brazas monkeys and an owl-faced monkey. Presumeably they lived in here. In a very small (1 page) brochure I have from 1967 they say they have a "host of monkeys".
These don't seem to tally with the longer list(s)provided above. Did they keep these species as well as all the others? not necessarily at the same time?
I am pretty sure the current big Manrill group are descended not from those original ones, but from another trio they got in about 1980's era.
