Future Bull elephant house taronga zoo

lol i like fed square too. i think it looks shocking now but i reckon the vegetation will soften it up

I like it too, very modern. I think maybe it is meant to be an elephant's skin.

I had to check that Federal Square you keep referring to, and.........

Day 12, October 28, Melbourne

.... OH MY GOD, that is some scary architecture, as well!

Don´t get me wrong, I am a big fan of modern architecture in general, just that now and then I see stuff that makes me almost physically revolted....

I don't mind the elephant house, but that is a bit much!

It reminds me of wood that has had bugs burrow under the bark.

It does, doesn't it?

Not sure why the windows are such weird shapes. I imagine that will bump up the price of the glass, as it will have to be specially cut.

I can appreciate the Elephant enclosure. It is a very modern looking building, which could almost look out of place in a zoo, but I think as has been mentioned, with the vegetation growing around it might end up looking good. It might actually blend in so well with the vegetation that it might even be inconspicious. Of course this is if they plant trees and shrubs around it.

The usual suspects for something like could include a simple steel construction (which would have looked worse), something similar to the old Elephant house (which would have looked more out of place) or a Thai inspired building (which has been done).

I find Fed Square to be very interesting too.

Also, those windows may not have glass. They could just be for ventilation.

I was in the zoo today, and the ones on the northern and eastern walls are for ventilation. The ones on the western wall have glass.
