Dhole / Sunbear Enclosure

So I take it they use this exhibit on a rotational basis?

Yes, I should have mentioned that. The dhole is in the enclosure from 9:00am to 3:00pm, the bears from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The different smells provide the animals with an olfactory enrichment. I've noticed in the past both bears pacing in the exhibit, maybe this will help break the cycle.

the bears are actually given access all night not only till 5:00

Thats what I would have thought, but the sign said 3:00 - 5:00pm. Of course, I should know better than to believe something I read on a label or sign!

Do the Dholes then get shut away inside all night, or do they have a separate exhibit to themselves?

the dholes that live in the sunbear exhibit are only half the pack, either the females or the males i cant really remember and during the night they have acces to three connected bear dens that have been made up with areas of bark for them to play in as well as branches and lots of toys. the shared exhibit thing is only temparary.

That's what I was thinking. The sign also said it was female dholes in the exhibit.

This exhibit is so small
