Old bear pit can be seen in background

I assume the bear pit is the part with the iron bars?
This is where they quarantined the new lynx I think.
How did the public view the bears though? Are there steps or something out of view?

How hard would it be to put fence panels up? I mean it's not just a mess, surely it's health and safety if kids start climbing on those piles.

yes the windows with bars are the walls of the old bear pit, it was veiwed from an iron bridge above which was accessed from the back path between the old cara cara and golden pheasant aviaries. After the bears moved it was used as a quarantine/holding area for many creatures including tigers, jaguars, caracal, tapir, arctic fox and most recently i think the lynx
