wouldnt have to be in the rainforest theres evidence that there are many wild jaguars in your country. just on the boarder i understand. possibly in your state.
More likely Texas and Arizona. California sightings have always been extremely rare. And even quite uncommon in those states to the best of my knowledge.

NOT Texas, just Arizona and New Mexico. Texas of course has ocelots on the border (and most likely jaguarundis), but here in Arizona we had our first photos of a live ocelot - one from a remote trail camera in 2010 and one seen and photographed in person in 2011.
