Bush dog; Dudley Zoo; 2nd April 2011

Great capture did you notice that they were down to just 2 dogs one of the dogs died during the winter old age I presume as all 3 dogs are said to quite old

Yes, I only saw two bush dogs; they were both very active.

Although I have visited Dudley a good few times over the years, it is not one of the zoos that I visit regularly and it is a long while since I was last there. Am I right in thinking that the current bush dog enclosure is where the spotted hyaenas were kept many years ago?

Yes thats correct and just before the Bush Dogs there were Manned Wolf in this enclosure.

Many thanks for confirming this was the old hyaena enclosure. It’s a great shame that there are no longer any spotted hyaenas in the UK.

It's only a few months since UK's last one died at Colchester - surely they can't be too hard to get; which zoo do you think would be most likely to go for it? They don't make for the worst show for sure!

If any are to get one i would of thought Edinburgh but i dont think they'll fancy that.

I hope Dudley will get some and have them back in this enclosure
