Have never seen a photo of the two subspecies/species together like this. I am surprised the size contrast isn't greater though- is it just the angle perhaps?

Siberian Tiger...

Pertinax, I thought that as well; the Sumatran does not look significantly smaller, despite being further away. Also, I did not know that one could mix non-breeding female Tigers ion this way, when presumably they did not grow up together. I understand that Dartmoor had two sisters that couldn't be kept together. Maybe they're as 'individual' as dogs.

They were handreared together at Wuppertal (Daseep was born at Frankfurt) after both being rejected by their mothers and neither having siblings. They have been together since they were 10/12 weeks old. They were transfered to from Wuppertal to Dudley together initially for Tschuna to complete the quarantine period before going on to Whipsnade. However Dudley have so far, been unable to source a suitable male Sumatran for Daseep who's staying on their. So Whipsnade have agreed to extend the loan for the time being...

Bit of an unusual situation but the ages were so similar (less than two weeks between them) that it would have been silly not have taken the opputunity from a socialisation point of view.

Siberian....

So really it's a sibling situation, & there may eventually be trouble when the adult hormones really kick in.

Their background makes them the equivalent of sisters. Hopefully the one destined to leave will go before any trouble starts.
