I cannot understand Cotswold getting rid of its Peccaries and Dudley apparently not going in for breeding. Why do so many zoos these days appear to be embarrassed by having something different and therefore more interesting? I'd much rather see a White-lipped Peccary than a Visayan Warty Pig (although both would be better still).

Intersting question to which I'd like to know the answer too?
Maybe they are not considered endangered so are not on any breeding programme? But that doesn't stop far more 'common' animals breeding in zoos.Dudley are always producing new capybara young so why not peccaries too.

Cotswold disposed off all their peccary some time ago , repacing them with warty pigs . I think Tayto Park in Ireland also received some of the peccary . Dudley do not seem to be breeding them .

I didn't know Cotswold had got rid of all of them. Last time I went they had both, in adjacent enclosures. The Peccaries had an earth 'yard' and access to a paddock via a tunnel under a little footbridge leading round to the Wolves. The Warty Pigs(one pair) were in the adjacent enclosure the Peccaries used to have.

I can't see why they didn't keep both Peccaries and Warty Pigs. The Peccary group was actually a better, more interesting exhibit IMO because of the larger number.

What is in their enclosure now?

There are a few mara and capybara in the original Peccary enclosure . The warty pigs are in the enclosure near the wolves .
