Uncia uncia

Female cub Nidara.

Yes indeed. And attracting quite a crowd, as well!

Cute, but I'd still go with Panthera uncia

I can never remember which one is current this month. :D

Uncia uncia is the one I'm most used to so it tends to slip out.

Snow Leopard Cub...

I wouldn't want to be a Snow Leopard in this weather

The cub looks fine here, but sadly its death has now been reported.:(

Sad news indeed; there was certainly no indication of any potential problems when I saw her.

Veterinary results following the death of our adorable 11-week-old snow leopard, Nidara, show the cause to be peracute coliform intestinal infection which in turn caused an E. Coli septicaemia.

Veterinary Surgeon Peter A K Stewart, who collated the results, said: "Unfortunately, this sort of infection is common in young animals and has a high mortality rate. The condition would have lead to a sudden death."

The rapid deterioration is visible on CCTV footage.

DZG CEO Peter Suddock, said: "An immediate response by staff and the zoo vet to the discovery of the poorly snow leopard cub on July 19 failed to revive the animal.

"The usual procedure of a full autopsy was carried out by the zoo vet with samples forwarded for further testing and examination and these are the results of the findings."

He added: "It's very sad to have lost such a beautiful animal."
