I really feel Jersey could do with a rare big cat (or even beetter a few endangered small cats) for exmaple Iberian lynx, Amur leopard etc

Back in 1982, Snow Leopards were not as common in zoos as they are today, breeding was rare, and planted enclosures like this one was also quite uncommon. At the time, Jersey only had three felines: Snow Leopard, Cheetah and Serval. No idea what they have today.

according to the website they do not have any cat species neither big or small, in fact the closest they've got is maned wolves - which is why they could do with a cat species.

All the big cat species are failry well represented in zoos - if Jersey was to get a cat species I'd like it to be one of the very rarely kept small cat species that doesn't get much attention, like Kodkod or Oncilla.

:p

A decade after your comments (though you have probably already heard of this) it appears that Jersey is finally getting into conserving a felid. I read about their plans for reintroducing the European wildcat into the UK to bolster existing projects with the Scottish wildcat although I have no idea if this means they will be kept at Jersey zoo itself.

Returning the European wildcat to Britain
