Are these guys viable long-term in Australia?

Also - Hix, what species are kept in the palm aviary?

For as long as I can remember Taronga has always had lots of Nicobars - ISIS records Taronga with 39 (including three hatched in the last 12 months). ISIS also lists Adelaide as having 16 (incl. 3 recently hatched), Perth with 7 and Melbourne with 1.

The Palm Aviary, from memory has Nicobars Pigeons, Bleeding Heart Pigeons, Superb Fruit-Doves (aka Purple-crowns), King Quail, Chukars, Nepal Kalij and Golden Pheasants, Red Lories, Pekin Robin and Red-vented Bulbul. There were White-breasted Ground Doves at one time, and I think Emerald Doves too, but I think they may have been removed. For that matter, I haven't seen the King Quail for a few months either.

Also there is a population of nicobar pigeons outside of zoos, probably the same amount as there are in zoos. A pair of these can cost you $4000.
