Anette can be seen in the first overhead passage that links the house to the island. The yellow lifting equipment is to do with filming going on there.

Always thought this was the best indoor Orangutan area I've seen, because of the great height of the interiors. But the outside enclosures are only 'average to good' IMO- but put their indoors with Paignton's outdoors and you would have a really exceptional set-up.
Yes, you have a point. But they do have the advantage of having two fairly large islands so all the orangs can be outside at the same time - Paignton's small island is rarely used.I wish Paignton's house had been built like this with two separate sections so that all or more orangs could be on display.
As I only had eyes for the orangs while I was there, I didn't realise until I looked at the photo how nicely this has been decorated
With a somewhat antisocial species like Orangutan, the more seperate housing they have available the better, so the two island system at Jersey pays off.

Two islands, three sections. Also separate offshow dens for each individual (or mother/baby pair including Gina and Jaya) and an off show tunnel linking above the two glass windowed tunnels you see in this pic, with a heat lamp and rest stations.
They do like to 'get away' from each other, especially the males.
