how does the biomass-burner work? I mean, it is obvious how it works in general, just from the name and material used as fuel, but can such a device only be used for smaller areas or could it be upscaled to heat something like a factory-sized tropical house? And where and how is it situated in relation to the house it is heating? And, perhaps what many people would wonder, does it create any smell??
It's not 'stinky', but there's a definite smell to it that isn't as unpleasant as you'd imagine. We burn spoiled grain, old tree branches from the storms, soiled paper bedding and dung in it mostly... anything free and not petrochemical-based. It's thermostatically controlled and uses low-friction fans to dissipate the heat. The bat roost is pretty big, and anyone who's been in there will testify; it's toasty! I see no reason other than initial outlay why it couldn't be used for a tropical house... but I'm no expert. I can ask someone who is though, if you like...
