I remember seeing the Horses there- they looked totally out of place in Jersey's collection- I don't think they stayed too long. The Maned Wolves were far more in keeping.

Which were the small cats kept?

The only felines I remember at Jersey were Servals, Snow Leopards and Cheetahs.

The P horses stayed longer than you think, they were still in the collection in 1996. A bachelor group of 2 or 3. Moved into the centre of the zoo (next to Sulawesi macaques) where they were replaced by maned wolf.

Zoo Map 1983

I believe there were originally three horses. When the Trust decided to go out of the species, the two survivors went to a rescue centre in England, I think only one survived the journey.

Interesting to see that they once kept hutias, does anyone remember what species this was that was kept ?
