Keep in mind the infrastructure of the zoo is quite old and when all of these buildings were first built they were seen as extremely modern and exceptionally good buildings. It shows how zoos have changed!
As for the turf, I'm considering running a sweep as to how long it lasts, I'm being optimistic with 7 days!
But the Monkey House is a lot, lot older than the Ape House, and I actually think it is okay for its age and still quite functional. But they could have done better when they built that Ape House though- it was as recent as the late 1980's I think.
I think the Guinea baboons will destroy the turf as there is such a big group of them. Will they return to Paris when the Zoo reopens? They used to have them on a big baboon 'rock' there. Guineas are not that common in Zoos elsewhere. Port Lympne have also now got a large group - stemming from about 13 they also took from Paris a few years ago.
