I've noticed the Ground Hornbills at several UK zoos recently- in each case the male has been walking around carrying a dead chick in his bill- like this frog. This is part of the courtship display. Is it their breeding season in the UK or do they do this far more continuously in captivity?
thats very interesting pertinax I would of thought that the female would carry a dead chick around as part of courtship, to show to other males that she is ovulating again????
