Ongoing work as part of the Penguins Rock appeal, to renovate the penguin pools at Edinburgh Zoo.
This exhibit looks really promising. I wonder if Edinburgh's King Penguins breed at Birdland and when/if they return if they breed at Edinburgh again.

Looking at the bridge, it does look as though the fencing is to be lowered, which can only be a good thing.

What is the large structure with what looks like the heel of a giant shoe on it? Is that the tower for a suspension bridge?

The first king penguins to be exhibited at the zoo were taken to Scotland in 1913 by a Christian Salvesen whaling expedition. The Salvesen Bridge design is a memorial to his expeditions, and there'll be an exhibit/interpretation as part of the reopened pool. The tower doesn't physically support the bridge, but is more of design feature.
