New Guinea singing dog

Now in new enclosure. They had a go at singing, but I think they were a bit off-key. Exmoor, 4th October 2015.

That's a nice shot of a fine animal.

I've just discovered your set from Exmoor and I've enjoyed every one, thanks for posting Alan.

Its a lesson to me in how far you let your shutter speeds drop, your clean images are testament to it; you must get an awful lot of "doh it moved" moments :-)

Thank you. I try to follow the advice I read an old book by the great bird photographer Eric Hosking, by choosing the lowest ISO setting and the slowest shutter speed that I can get away with to get good lens performance and the best image quality (of course EH said film speed, but it's the same effect). VR lenses and good technique are a great help. I do get blurred photos of course, but the beauty of digital photography is that a dozen imperfect photos vanish at the touch of a button and you only put the sharp one on show!
Of course action photography is a different matter entirely - we can all make fools of ourselves there

Yes, I absolutely agree.

I let my shutter speed drop as much as I'm comfortable with, and IS is a massive help, I suspect a mono is the missing link for me. Its something for me to work on I think.

There are a lot of dark corners in zoos, my ISO rarely creeps up in other photography settings.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I appreciate it!
