Polar Bear at Flamingo Land, mid-1990s

the hight of that fence realy scares me!

Why? It was not the perimeter fence, just a divider for when the bears had cubs.

There was a moat in front of that, the fence in the pic was on top of the moat wall.

Doesn't the enlosure lack imagination! Every time I visited them, it just looked so... bare! (no pun intended!)

The bear enclosure has gone completely - it really only hung on until the bear passed away. It was to the east of what is now the Parrotsphere, where the large emu enclosure is located.

Maybe these photos will help...

The first shows the Hall and the old Bear pit was behind where you can see the rickety fence on the left. If you were to follow the path straight down towards the Hall you'd see the Flamingos on the left in the small lake.



This other shot clearly shows it filled in, with what is a piece of an original wall belonging to the Hall.
