Leopard Cage and Seal Pond 1970

Having not tried scanning before New Year's Day I didn't realise a small picture would come out bigger like my Gomba ones, hence I did two at once! The Leopard cage is of course now part of the older Meerkat exhibit, and the Seal Pond is the Pelican Pool (at one time a Penguin Pool).

More great photos..thanks, Andrew! :)

I can't remember the seal being in that pool, but do remember the penguins there. I checked my 1972 map here and the seal pond and Leopard were next to each other at the place I remember them being.

I got quite excited seeing the buildings in the background on the seal photo, because it shows Home Farm (spot the chimney!) and original Farm buildings. I think at least one of these was changed to where the toilet block is now.

Yes, this is the same Seal Pond as in 1972.

I remember a keeper who lived in the Home Farm staff accommodation about ten years ago telling me she had found out what was then her kitchen or living room had been a veterinary room, and that a Dolphin had been post mortemed on her floor.

One of our Dolphins was buried in the small paddock directly behind Ocean World. I saw it on one of those tractor buckets being put in the ground. :(
