Nearly all of a Giant Anteater 1976

This was in the pen that eventually housed Vietnamese Pot-bellied Pigs in the Children's Farm prior to the Muddy Duck Farm. At one time Giant Anteaters were held in the Mammal House and births were recorded in, I think, 1968 and 1972, although neither youngster survived.

You know, we went to visit Edinburgh Zoo in 2010 and the first thing I said to hubby was.."That's the first Anteater I've ever seen !" Obviously I can't remember this one being at FPZ, but it's a good photo of it, thanks, Andrew.

This pen was opposite the end of the "walk-through" aviary so I maybe took this photo straight after the Lady Amherst's one!
