I was led to believe you can see them in their house, has that been shelved now? If this is the only view of one of their big draws then they're missing a trick up in Yorkshire...
You can see them in their house which is under the raised construction on the left (the top of the chute into the water on the log flume ride). You have to go up some steps and there are windows to the left. As for the Lions that are outside, they are usually in the middle distance from the viewing windows next to the house, so as Mr. Weasel says the view pictured is about the closest you can get to an outside Lion at least - and then it has to be in the right place as sometimes you cannot see any animals through this window.
