It does, doesn't it? I do not know why. The lake (if that is not giving it too grand a name) was created along with the adjacent waterfowl/European White Stork one over the winter of 2002/03 when the Lost Kingdom was contstructed (or should I say discovered? Or even rediscovered?!).
I wondered if there is chalk underlying but I don't think Flamingoland is on chalk... The waterfowl lake at Cotswold is always a similar colour too and that isn't chalk either I don't think.
