the four skunks (3.1.0) that are housed at Folly Farm have an indoor area that the public cannot view into so - they have shade and can get away from the public glare
and inside the wall it is not a 'pit' it is full of grass, rocks, logs, bark for them to dig into and a variety of plants that grow fairly tall and fast giving the skunks yet more shade.
the animals were rescused from the pet trade as far as I understand and are living a much happier and healthier life at Folly Farm!!
