Ring-tailed lemurs at Gatwick Zoo, 20 May 1990

This brings back memories. My grandparents used to take me to Gatwick Zoo during the 80s. I recall that the young Ring-tails could squeeze out between the bars of their cage. I would insist on touching them which caused my grandmother to worry and try everything to stop me (there was a sign that said something along the lines of "Danger, these animals bite")! Needless to say, I never came to any harm.

I remember Pygmy Kingfishers just inside the entrance.

Yes, that is exactly what this one did, right in front of our eyes. Minutes later, it went back in the way it had come out :)

I only visited the zoo this one time, and I must admit, I don't remember any other species that were kept there.
