Savannah Cat

This cat, Betty, is the second-oldest of the three Savannah Cats which are now held by Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre. As with many savannah cats, it is likely that the domestic component of her lineage is Egyptian Mau. However, extensive observation of this animal as she moved around the enclosure, as well as prolonged and close-up views of her facial structure, makes me very suspicious that she is not a true savannah cat - that is to say, a hybrid to some degree of serval and domestic cat - as she displays many features of leopard cat lineage, for instance a longer body, shorter legs and much more solid colouration and bodily markings, including a dense pattern of stripes between the ears extending down the back.

As such, I suspect she is both an F1 Bengal Cat - that is to say, with a leopard cat parent and a domestic parent - and possibly an F2 Savannah Cat with a single serval grandparent. Although only an educated guess, this would mean Betty's lineage is 25% domestic, 25% serval and 50% leopard cat.
