Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus) at Hamerton Zoo Park - March 27 2012

Hamerton, the only UK collection with this species, keeps a pair of Oncilla. They are notoriously difficult to spot, but the uncharacteristically warm and sunny weather led both of them to be highly active during my visit.

I am guessing that zootiger is under the mistaken impression ocelots and oncillas are the same species, rather than being two sister species as is the case.

Very fond of this species; hope to see them on a return visit sometime this year.
