Aardwolf paddock at Hamerton 05/04/10

One animal (I think the male) lives here, the second in an aviary-style exhibit further round.

Hamerton is one of only three European zoos with Aardwolves; the others being Twycross and the RSCC.

this has now changed! There is a male southern aardwolf in here. Another male southern aardwolf in the next door aviary exhibit. Then a male and female eastern aardwolf in a new enclosure where they are living together.

Are you sure the Southern's are 2 females as when I visited last year they were 2 males, and I was told that by the owner of the Park.

Quite, and the subspecies is not exactly around for two new females to pop up!

Sorry you're right i got it mixed up! Two male southern aardwolves!
Not a problem with how things change at Hamerton, you are never quite sure if more have been brought in,to try and keep both sub-species going, but a think when these 2 boys go that will be it for the Southern sub-species for quite sometime in the UK.
