Swamp Cavy in Southern Aardwolf enclosure

Just out of interest, what is the scientific name for swamp cavy? Are they just wild type guinea pigs? The only google results that come up are from Zoochat.

They are Cavia magna :) also known as Greater Cavy, and distinct from the wild ancestors of domestic Guinea Pig (Cavia porcellus), which are presumed to be Brazilian Cavy (Cavia aperea) and Montane Cavy (Cavia tschudii).

Are they the same species that are at Shorelands?
Any idea where they came from ?
I like that rock-like hide for them.

They are indeed the same species; although Shorelands got theirs from Plzen the taxon is also about in private hands so this is a possible source for the Hamerton stock.
