what do you mean? It is a fox which has eaten an octopus but the octopus has burst free from the stomach, killing the fox in the process, and now small birds are attacking the octopus.

But now you've explained it, it all makes sense. And the moral of this story is: don't do drugs.
All specimens were either roadkill or died of other environmental causes. There were quite a few more pieces in a similar vein.
The next question of course, is what was the octopus doing on a road?
